No one can deny the universal appeal of diamonds. Although a very small percentage of people can afford to buy these precious stones there are not that many people for whom these sparkling delights do not hold fascination. For such people who cannot afford them yet want to buy them, the advancement of technology has created a number of possibilities for them. One of these possibilities is buying synthetic diamond jewellery.

Few years ago, it was only cubic zirconia that was the sole alternate synthetic option available to the lovers of the gemstone however the range has increased in recent years. As it is, consumers now also have the option of Moissanite and other man-made versions of the jewel. Regarding cubic zirconia, it is also known as CZ that is a laboratory prepared gem and has been available in the market since the year 1976. On one hand, the sparkle and brilliance of this version is higher than the natural form.

Furthermore it is completely transparent without any hint of impurities. Nevertheless it is not easy to conceal the fact that it is an artificial version. In attribution to this difficulty, manufacturers have started adding color tinges to it so that it looks more and more like the natural form. In the current market scenario, CZs greatest rivaling counterpart is Moissanite, which became available in the market in 1998.

There are black diamond rings and there are chocolate diamonds that, as evident from its name, is brown in color. The hue is rich and dark. Lighter versions of brown are christened as cognac, cinnamon and champagne diamonds. Many types of jewellery are made out of these forms such as chocolate diamond rings. As it is the brown ones come in greater supplies than the red ones and hence the brown ones have a more affordable range. All said and done, the diamond industry is progressing every single day, with new varieties being introduced to the market along with the discovery of unique utilities that the gemstone is capable of.

Everyone knows that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Most women love diamonds and diamond rings. Receiving a unique black diamond ring will show your significant other just how special she really is to you. Although a diamond of any color is actually thought of as having an imperfection, black diamonds are rare and are sought by collectors all over the world.

Black diamonds will appreciate each year because they are so rare. They are primarily mined in Brazil and Central Africa. In India, these diamonds have been used in sacred statues such as the Buddha and are believed to be mystical. These gems are naturally a black or dark gray color and are more porous than other diamonds. They do appear to be smaller than a traditional diamond but that is because of their heavier weight. There are many theories of where these diamonds come from, including the idea that they are from space, from the impact of an asteroid.

Black diamond rings have an elegance that a regular diamond ring lacks. Although the black diamond is not nearly as lustrous as a clear diamond, they are rare, making them valuable in their own right. They are especially masculine and are becoming trendy for men, especially in wedding bands.

When a black diamond is combined with a traditional diamond, the result is a black and white diamond ring that is as exquisite as apiece of artwork. When given as a black diamond engagement ring, it can be paired with white diamonds, another colored diamond such as a blue one or other gem stone such as amethyst. Along with being paired up with nearly any stone, these can be placed on your choice of white gold, silver, yellow gold or platinum, depending on your own personal preference.

When choosing that special ring, not only can you customize it to include the gem stones of your choice, but you can have the stones placed into any setting that you’d like for both men and women. Although the black diamond is thought of as masculine at times, it can be easily made to have a very feminine feel to it by adding additional gems and a setting that is two-toned featuring both white and yellow gold.

Black diamond engagement rings can be found in styles for both men and women. Some are sets that include the woman’s band or they can be purchased separately from the band. An eternity band with black diamonds can make a lovely accent when paired up with a solid band or a ring that has both black and other colored diamonds paired up together.

Men’s rings are equally as exquisite and feature the popular styles and designs of which men have grown fond. Included in the selection you might find horseshoe styles, geometric patterns, and bands with a small center stone or row of small stones. Many men enjoy wearing rings but often will pass on them because they do not look as masculine as they would like.

Although rings are one of the most popular pieces of jewelry, black diamonds are also available in earrings and as pendants. Due to their unique black color, they can be used in a way that other diamonds may fail. For instance, a pendant featuring a Black Lab dog may use black diamonds to show the color of the dog, or a pendant that is made to look like a pistol may use these same diamonds to represent the handle of the pistol. Colored diamonds allow jewelers to be more artistic with their creations resulting in jewelry that is truly a work of art.

For many people simply buying the most expensive diamond ring is the solution to all their problems when choosing. However it is worth realizing that it is possible to make a much smaller diamond look larger than it actually is by choosing the correct effect and layout of the ring. Indeed if you choose the wrong design it can often make even an expensive ring look relatively small and even cheap.

One of the most common ways to make a small diamond ring look bigger is to use the bevel setting. This involves using white or light gold around the ring in a way that the metal actually merges with the ring to create an overall effect of a much larger stone. One problem though is that the gold can throw at a yellowish tint back onto the diamond which is not usually desirable.

Side stones are like an old favourite and are a more traditional way to make a stone look bigger and it involves using smaller stones around the centrepiece to create an overall more impressive look. It’s important to remember that the side stones don’t actually merge with the centre stone but it can create quite a dazzling effect making it appear as though they do.

Shallow cut diamonds have become very popular in recent years, this is mainly due to the fact that they look much bigger under certain lights. However this does come at a price as the clarity of the diamond itself can often be quite dull, as always a trade-off in the cut level must be judged by yourself. The use of diamonds in gold jewellery has been commonplace for centuries and always remember that a diamond will appear much more vibrant in a white gold or platinum setting and the increased dazzle will be well worth the extra expense.

One technique that is not used as much anymore is the illusion setting. The main reason is that the mirror used in the inlay makes the ring very difficult to repair, as such maintenance of the ring can become cost prohibitive.

As you can see there are a number of different effects that can be utilised when looking for that special item of jewellery, however remember to check the ring in all lights and environments before you make your final decision. This post has been brought to you by the cheap handbag site, for more information about this and other interesting topics take the time to check us out.

It is nice to know that silver, although not as prestigious as gold or platinum, can be worn on many occasions. You don’t have to spend a lot of money in order to have a nice silver portfolio. And unlike other types of metals, silver is one of the most convenient metals to clean. You can go into about any type of retail store that sells costume jewellery, fine jewellery, or jewellery accessories and find many types of earrrings, for example. Those stores will not only have silver earrings, but they will usually have silver rings, silver necklaces, and silver pendants to name a few.

If it is silver you are after, look no further than the Internet. One cannot begin to count how many online stores are on the web that sell jewellery. And silver is a very popular metal for all types of jewellery. Some examples include hoop earrings, dangle earrings, and stud earrings. One of the biggest advantages of going with silver is that it goes with pretty much everything, what we mean is when compared to yellow gold for example (which may actually clash with many outfits) the neutral tone of silver with accompany and in many cases enhance most outfits.

Given that price is considerably less than gold, silver jewellery, remains the obvious choice for the budget minded. On the other hand, if you are looking to buy gold or diamond hoop earrings, for example, you are going to have to limit your choice based upon your budget as well. Not that silver is the cheapest, but they certainly less expensive than diamonds, gold, or platinum (all else being equal).

So if you are choosing to buy on the web or just want to go to the mall and buy something at a small costume jewellery boutique, remember to ask the store clerk if the jewelry is genuine silver or fabricated silver. Many stores are happy to tell you up front and some store employees don’t even know. But if it is genuine silver you want, then you need to know your product before you buy (just in case the store people are clueless). Sterling is the most common form but you may run into 800 or 958 as well.

When it comes to engagement rings, it is difficult to find a design that you can wholeheartedly agree on. Many people want their engagement ring to be everything – attractive, affordable, distinguished, unique, and versatile. Versatility is particularly important, as nobody wants a ring that can only be worn at extremely formal events; a good ring should be able to blend into any circumstance and any event, and should complement any outfit rather than clashing with it. Unfortunately, not all rings are capable of doing this. As a result, it becomes very important to make the right decision about the style of ring that you want.

Generally, most jewellers will tell you that it’s all in the diamond. This is true – most of the impact of the ring comes from the diamond. However, it’s important not to neglect the ring itself, particularly what metal it’s made of – for example, yellow gold is less versatile than white gold, which is slightly less formal than platinum. It’s necessary to keep things like this in mind when shopping for a ring.
However, getting back to the diamond, it is crucial to get a diamond with a cut and setting that creates the kind of visual impression youre going for. For example, if you want a large diamond with powerful presence, you will probably want a round or princess cut, rather than a more slender marquise or pear cut. However, if you are going for the more sleek and elegant look, the marquise or oval cut can be fantastic. If you want an unusual look, the emerald cut (long and angular) provides a very unique visual aesthetic, as does the trillion cut (a thick triangle – very distinctive), which is as lovely as it is uncommon.

There are other styles as well. One particularly interesting one is the pave diamond ring (pave is pronounced pah-vay). These rings are basically diamond-encrusted – there is a large central diamond, just like with other rings, but the rest of the ring is also lined with smaller diamonds, creating a fantastic interplay of sparkling light, not to be confused with a 3 stone engagement ring which is also extremely popular. The way that these rings dazzle cannot be overstated; when the light hits them, everyone in the room will involuntarily turn their eyes to your finger. This exquisite effect is part of the reason that pave diamond engagement rings are so desired; of course, they are also quite expensive, so the prohibitive price tag means that pave diamond rings are quite an exclusive design. Unlike, say, the princess cut engagement ring which is incredibly popular, you will probably almost never see a diamond pave ring like yours. These rings are generally only created to order, and mostly only crafted at the high-end jewellery houses.

The pave diamond engagement ring is also an interesting option because it allows you to reduce the size of the central diamond, and in the process increase the profile of the smaller diamonds set into the ring. Most jewellers agree that a pave set diamond ring is noticeably beautiful because of the smaller diamonds, not because of the larger central diamond – and that in fact, the larger the central diamond is, the less visible the other diamonds become.

This is, of course, just one option of many. There are a lot of different ways to experiment with your engagement ring; for a full spectrum of options, it is best to talk to a jeweler and have them show you some of their more interesting designs.

Engagement rings are evolving, but not as fast as they should. For the most part, in fact, the choice in engagement rings today has not changed in the last few decades. Unfortunately, the young people of today have changed in the last few decades; they are now much more modern and willing to experiment with their engagement and wedding jewellery, but are disappointed to find that the world of jewellery has not kept up with them as well as they would have liked. What we have today, then, is a lot of young people that are simply not satisfied with the range of engagement jewellery available to them; they want to try new things.

Of course, there are barriers to this. There is only so much “experimentation” a young couple can really consider to be sensible; after all, marriage is ultimately a conservative event, and young would-be brides and grooms probably have an army of family members and friends breathing down their necks and looking over their shoulders to ensure that the happy couple do not go overboard and end up getting some garish monstrosity of a ring. These people must be appeased as well; it’s no good to be too extreme. However, there are still some excellent options that are sure to please any modern young couple, as well as satisfy (mostly, anyway) their more tradition-minded guardians.

The easy way to experiment, of course, is to just go with unusual metals – rather than the standard yellow gold, you can try more interesting options such as white gold (which suits a much wider range of outfits and colours, rather than clashing with them the way yellow gold does). There are also a lot of extremely exotic metals out there if you are willing to pay for them – ranging from platinum to rhodium and even metals as obscure and incredibly expensive as palladium. However, these are generally not all that practical for the young couple about to get married, particularly because of the high price tag attached to them. The other thing is that changing the metal doesn’t solve the fundamental problem – that most engagement rings today are boring.

Instead of just experimenting with the metals, then, we recommend that you experiment with the very design of the ring. For example, a pave diamond ring is always interesting, and looks much more distinctive than a regular single-diamond ring. Another very stylish option is the three stone diamond ring. These have always been an adventurous choice; the 3 stone diamond engagement ring has a triple-diamond setup – not the cheapest, but certainly one of the most visually attractive ring designs. Besides, they’re formal enough for those who are mindful of tradition as well. We can certainly say that 3 stone engagement rings, while being a pretty cool way to experiment, will not raise too many complaints the way that a less distinguished design would.

And of course, this does not exclude the possibility of experimenting with metals and styles such as cushion cut engagement rings. You can get a 3 stone white gold engagement ring; or indeed, you can have one made of platinum if you prefer. And if you want to change other features of the ring, such as the setting of the diamonds, well, jewellers today offer many, many different kinds of 3 stone engagement ring settings. The bottom line is that 3 stone diamond engagement rings offer a lot of choice and flexibility in their design, making them an option that should certainly be considered by adventurous young couples.

Engagement rings are always a point of contention for the thoughtful young suitor. What should he purchase? Should he stick with a timeless design, or should he experiment a little? Should he move away from traditional diamond stones, or would that break the young lady’s heart? White gold or platinum? One stone or many?

This kind of dilemma can confuse anyone. This is why it is worth the time to do some research, and check out some of the various designs available for engagement rings. There are a bewildering variety of designs out there, but it is not hard to decide which one is most appropriate in your case – and a little bit of research goes a long way.

The first place that most people start is with princess cut engagement rings. The princess cut is a large angular diamond, essentially a large square with sharp corners. These generally only look good if the size of the diamond is large enough – and even with a large enough diamond, they frequently fall under criticism for being too showy and ostentatious – hence the name. However, they are one of the classic choices.

Then you have the pear cut, which is a tear-shaped diamond. These provide quite an interesting look due to their slimmer, more asymmetrical profile. For those who prefer larger stones, the design of choice is usually the oval, which is a wider and more symmetrical version of the pear cut. Other symmetrical designs include the emerald cut, the radiant cut and the marquise cut.
Out of all the symmetrical designs, the styles that we particularly favour are cushion cut diamond engagement rings.

These are another very classic choice like the princess cut, but usually more well-regarded in professional jewellery circles, because the cushion cut is considered to be a bit more sophisticated. The cushion cut diamond is shaped like lengthwise rectangle with rounded corners, giving it a softer look while still retaining the sharp cuts that enhance a diamond’s sparkle. Cushion cut diamonds are usually set high and seated with prongs or a crown, and can be surrounded by smaller diamonds to create a dazzling interplay of light between the stones. The cushion cut engagement ring is very, very highly regarded by jewellers and recipients alike. Cushion cut diamonds are also the most compatible with paving (which means setting them amidst a seat of other, smaller diamonds). The paved setting combined with the intensity of the cushion cut diamond creates an absolutely fabulous effect, making pave cushion cut engagement rings a popular option.

A particularly intriguing option is the purchase of vintage engagement rings. Of course, careful care has to be taken to ensure that the ring is still in good condition, but all real vintage diamond rings should come with certificates of authenticity as well as jewellers’ written assurances of quality. Vintage cushion cut engagement rings are a particularly rare and exclusive option, and are definitely worth it if you can come across one that is of good quality.

And if you want to take it a step further, there are antique wedding bands and rings, which are usually much older (and much more well-made) than their vintage counterparts. Most diamond jewellers are of the opinion that there are very few things more beautiful than antique cushion cut engagement rings, or the people that wear them. They are quite expensive, especially with the cushion cut diamond, but that is a small price to pay for the exclusivity and exquisiteness that the rings provide.

Quite possibly the most interesting fashion phenomenon of the 2000′s was the sudden upsurge in popularity diamond earrings. Most people can’t even recall images of famous celebrities such as Halle Berry, Nelly Furtado or Noureen DeWulf where they weren’t wearing hoop earrings.
If the 2000s were about the plain simplistic design, the upcoming decade will be about upgrading it to a higher level of sophistication. How does one do this? This brings us to the most simple, and yet most beautiful way of updating the design – the diamond hoop earring.

Diamonds are expensive, it’s true, but there is simply no other jewel that creates a better effect. Hoop earrings by themselves are lovely, but diamond-encrusted hoop earrings are stunningly beautiful. Even a solar-eclipse-style hoop earring with a single diamond is dazzlingly attractive compared to a hoop earring that is decorated with lesser jewels, like rubies or sapphires.

Part of the appeal of the diamond is the fact that it is colour neutral – it can suit any colour of outfit, and can complement any shade of skin tone. Diamonds indiscriminately add to the beauty of any article of jewellery, because they create such a lovely natural interplay of light, a sparkle that catches the eye almost immediately. It is very hard to look away from a diamond – it creates an alpha aura around the wearer, making sure they capture the attention of everyone in the room. This is why they cost so much; this is why they are so rare; this is why they are prized above all other forms of jewellery.

Of course, the hoop earring is important too. The hoop earring sets the backdrop, framing the diamond so as to give it presence. In light of this, one of the most important things to decide is what you want the hoop to be made of. Examples can range from gold and silver, down to bronze or copper, or even more exotic materials like platinum, palladium or rhodium.

The important thing to look at is whether the colour of the metal complements or contrasts with the diamond. Complementary and contrasting metals can both create exquisite effects – the choice is entirely up to the preference of the wearer. 18kt gold is the classic metal used for high-end jewellery, diamond studs and diamond gold hoop earrings are certainly quite popular, providing a grand look that never really goes out of style.

The perennially classic option, of course, is a pair of yellow gold earrings. For those seeking to go with a more understated metal hue in order to most subtly frame the diamonds on the earrings, there is the white gold option. Under good light, white gold catches the sparkle of diamonds in a fantastic manner, making white gold diamond hoop earrings one of the most sophisticated styles of earrings that one can wear.

The darker metals also provide an extremely interesting aesthetic – a copper or brass alloy both offer a very unique look to the earring, framing it against a darker backdrop and adding contrast, thus making the diamond more visible. Such earrings are very unique, and can sometimes represent bespoke creations, custom made to the order of a particular customer.

And, of course, there are other options, such as platinum or rhodium – these are rather rare in diamond earrings, because most jewellers prefer the ease of sculpting that accompanies traditional 18kt gold. As a result, metals like palladium and platinum are only found in very high-end pieces, but there is no denying their beauty – or price.

One of the most interesting unexplored areas of jewellery is the vast array of semi-precious stones on the market and particularily the black diamond ring. Everyone, of course, has heard of the big four – emeralds (green), rubies (red), sapphires (blue) and amethysts (purple). Most people, however, do not venture to explore beyond this.

A particular issue faced by people who are looking to experiment with using different kinds of stones is that sometimes, semi-precious stones are not seen as “appropriate” for certain kinds of jewellery. Clearly, any stone can be used for more informal pieces, like necklaces, amulets and bracelets – but what about wedding or engagement rings?

Tradition dictates that the only stone that can be appropriately used is a diamond; and very few people seem willing to violate this tradition, even though the tradition is extremely expensive and, from some perspectives, grounded more in marketing than in common sense. Furthermore, with all the recent controversy over the sources of diamonds and the political profiteering involved in the African diamond-mining industry, there are a growing number of people who are looking for ways to steer clear of the usual “diamond standard” for wedding and engagement rings.

Still, the problem is somewhat harder than it sounds. For so many decades, women have been used to receiving diamonds – it would be rather unrealistic to expect that to suddenly change. Small steps, then, are called for. There are a number of gemstones that are rather visually similar to diamonds – moissanite is one example; and of course everyone knows about cubic zirconia. However, most women are of the (usually accurate) opinion that these replacements are somewhat lacking in originality; apart from their visual similarity to diamonds, they offer very little in the way of distinctive beauty. And after all, what is jewellery about if not distinctive beauty?

A number of solutions have been proposed, but none are more interesting than the black diamond, which, as the name indicates, is a diamond-like gemstone that is a beautiful sparkling black colour. The deep colour creates the opposite visual effect of a white diamond – it sparkles, and simultaneously pulls one’s gaze deeply into its inky depths. The colour of the diamond is absolutely dazzling, and far more vivid than the pale, misty colours of sapphires and emeralds.

These diamonds became particularly popular after many decided to abandon the traditional white diamond wedding and engagement rings, replacing them with black diamonds. Black diamond rings allow suitors to make a very unique visual statement about the visceral nature of their attraction to the person they are wooing; the sight of a sparkling black diamond engagement ring resting in a case lined with ivory leather is breathtaking, and so they have become much more popular with young couples in the last few years – although still not quite popular enough to detract from the uniqueness of the idea.

Another staggeringly beautiful way to design black diamond engagement rings is to use white gold for the ring. The black diamond white gold ring, then, is one of the most unique and beautiful ways to design an engagement ring. Setting an inverse version of a diamond against the dazzlingly clear beauty of white gold is an idea that is so revolutionary that it turns tradition on its head, ridding engagement rings of their stiff informality and replacing it with pure style and beauty.

If you are indeed looking for an alternative to traditional diamonds, then, be aware that there are other options out there. Moissanite, cubic zirconia, and black diamonds all pose very interesting alternatives to engagement rings.
